Tafsir
Verse range: 78:35
"They will not hear therein"—that is, in Paradise. It has also been said: in the cup. The fa is considered to be causative.
"Any vain talk"—that is, speech that is not considered or counted as meaningful. According to al-Raghib, it is that which is uttered without deliberation or reflection; thus, it runs in the same vein as al-lagha, which is the chirping of sparrows and similar birds. Every ugly form of speech may also be called laghwan, as well as anything that is not considered at all.
"Nor any falsehood"—that is, denial. It has been recited with light emphasis (kidhāban), meaning falsehood or mutual accusation. These mentioned items encompass types of sensory pleasures, as is not hidden.
