"To your Lord is its finality."

Upon this interpretation, the finality of knowledge regarding its essence, the details of its state, and the time of its occurrence returns to Him, the Exalted, and to no one else besides Him, glorified is He. Their function is only to know of its approach and imminence, which has already been attained by them through your mission. What, then, is the meaning of their asking you about it after that?

As for the first interpretation, its meaning is: unto Him, the Mighty and Majestic, belongs the termination of the knowledge concerning it. No one—whoever they may be—possesses any part of that knowledge; for what reason, then, do they ask you about it?
