Tafsir of Abasa 80:42

"Those are the disbelievers"

"Those" is a pointer to the possessors of those faces, and the distance implied within it serves to signal the extremity of their rank in wretchedness. That is to say: those described by what has been mentioned are the disbelievers and the wicked—those who combine disbelief with wickedness. For this reason, Allah the Exalted joined for them both dustiness and darkness, as the dustiness pertains to the wickedness, and the darkness pertains to the disbelief. We seek refuge with Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, from that.
