Tafsir
Verse range: 84:5
"And it gave ear to its Lord, and it was right that it should do so."
"And it gave ear to its Lord" means it obeyed its Lord in [the act of] casting forth [its contents] and what follows thereafter.
"And it was right that it should do so" – the discussion regarding this phrase is similar to what has preceded.
There is in this an indication that although what has been mentioned is attributed to the earth, it is [in reality] through the act of Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, and His power. The repetition of the word idha (when) signifies that each of the two sentences independently indicates a specific type of [divine] power.
