ﱿ ﲀ ﲁ
And it is not amusement.
Tafsir
Verse range: 86:14
Meaning: There is not a trace of amusement in any part of it; rather, it is all pure seriousness. Therefore, it is its due that those who are astray be guided by it, and that the necks of the arrogant be humbled before it.
In a hadith narrated by al-Tirmidhi, al-Darimi, and Ibn al-Anbari from al-Harith al-A'war, from Ali—may Allah, the Exalted, honor his face—it is said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: "Indeed, there will be trials (fitnah)." I asked, "What is the way out of them, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "The Book of Allah. In it is the news of those before you, the information of those after you, and the judgment for what is between you. It is the decisive word, not for amusement. Whoever among the tyrants abandons it, Allah will break him, and whoever seeks guidance in other than it, Allah will lead him astray. It is the firm rope of Allah, the wise reminder, and the straight path. It is that which desires cannot distort, nor can the scholars ever satisfy their hunger for it; it is not exhausted by frequent repetition, nor does it wear out from much usage, and its wonders never cease. It is that which the Jinn did not hesitate [to acknowledge] when they heard it, saying: 'Indeed, we have heard a wondrous Quran, which guides to the right path.' Whoever speaks by it, speaks the truth; whoever judges by it, is just; whoever acts by it, is rewarded; and whoever invites to it, is guided to a straight path."
In this [hadith] is what constitutes a refutation of those who have cast it behind their backs.
