Tafsir of At-Tariq 86:2

{And what will make you know what the Tariq (the Night-comer) is?}

This is an exaltation of its status after magnifying it through oaths, and an alert to the loftiness of its degree, such that the perception of creation cannot attain it. Therefore, it must be received from the All-Knowing Creator.

"Ma" (what) in the first instance is a subject (mubtada’), and "adraka" (will make you know) is its predicate (khabar). The second "ma" is the predicate, and "at-Tariq" is the subject, according to what some of the research scholars have chosen. That is: Which thing [can] inform you what the Tariq is?
