Al-A'la: 17 - "But the Hereafter is better and more lasting."

His saying, Exalted is He, "But the Hereafter is better and more lasting," is a circumstantial state (ḥāl) related to the subject of "you prefer" (tu'thirūn), serving to emphasize the reproach and censure. That is: you prefer it [the worldly life] over the Hereafter, while the Hereafter is inherently better, for its bliss—despite being at the utmost degree of pleasure—is pure, devoid of any taint of calamity, and eternal, having no cessation. The lack of explicit detail regarding the contamination of worldly bliss with vexations and its inevitable, swift termination is due to how self-evident those facts are.
