And We will ease you toward ease.
ﲳ ﲴ
And We will ease you toward ease.
Tafsir
Verse range: 87:8
This is a conjunctive clause to "We will make you recite" (sanuqri'uka), as indicated by the shift into a narrative mode. Everything in between is an interjected parenthetical statement for the reason you have heard.
Attributing this "facilitation" to him—peace and blessings be upon him—despite it being more common to attribute facilitation to matters subservient to the agent (as in the Almighty’s saying, "And ease for me my task"), serves to signify the strength of his—peace and blessings be upon him—capability regarding this "easiest way" and his mastery over it, to the point that it became an ingrained faculty for him, as if he—peace and blessings be upon him—were naturally disposed toward it.
That is, We shall grant you continuous success toward the easiest path in every chapter of the religion, in terms of knowledge, practice, guidance, and being guided. Thus, it includes the facilitation of receiving the ways of revelation and grasping the rulings of the lenient Sharia and the divine laws contained therein, regarding both the perfection of his noble self—peace and blessings be upon him—and the perfection of others, as is made explicit by the particle fa (the 'so' or 'then') in what follows. This is stated in al-Irshad.
It is also said that what is meant by "the easiest way" is the method that is simplest and easiest for memorizing revelation. Others say it is the easy, monotheistic Sharia (al-Hanifiyyah). Still others say it refers to good matters in worldly and otherworldly affairs, such as victory, high status, and elevation in Paradise, to which some have added religious matters. With this addition, it becomes a sound generalization, and the particle fa in the Almighty’s saying [concerning the consequence] is also manifest in relation to it.
