Tafsir of Al-Ghashiyah 88:15

And namāriq are pillows. Zuhair said: "They are elderly and youthful, their faces beautiful."

[They are] upon sururin maṣfūfah (thrones lined up). Namāriq is the plural of namruqah, which is pronounced with the nūn and rā’ being dammah, kasrah, or fathah [vowel variations]. It is also used without the hā’ [at the end, as namāriq].

Maṣfūfah means some are placed side by side to be leaned upon and reclined against. Al-Kalbi said: "They are cushions placed some beside others, like things arranged in a row, such that wherever the believer wishes to sit, he sits upon one and reclines against another. And above his head are female attendants [who appear] as if they were rubies and coral."
