Tafsir of At-Tawbah 9:21

"Their Lord gives them glad tidings" (i.e., in this world, by the tongue of His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him). Hamza read it as yabshuruhum (with a fatha on the ya, a sukun on the ba, a damma on the shin, and without the shadda), considering it derived from the triliteral verb bashara. Abu al-Shaykh recorded this recitation on the authority of Talha ibn Musarrif. In the act of invoking the title of Lordship while attributing it to their pronoun—and that He, Glorified be He, is the One giving the glad tidings—lies a subtlety and kindness that is self-evident.

"From Him"—a vast [mercy], "and good pleasure"—great, "and gardens"—lofty, their fruits hanging low.

"Therein for them"—meaning in the gardens, and it is said: in the mercy—"is lasting bliss"; it does not depart, nor does it travel away from them. This is a metaphor for that which is everlasting.
