Surah At-Tawbah 9:89

ﱞ ﱟ ﱠ ﱡ ﱢ ﱣ ﱤ ﱥ ﱦ ﱧ ﱨ ﱩ ﱪ ﱫ

Allah has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide eternally. That is the great attainment.

"God has prepared for them..."

God has prepared for them: This is a resumption [of the discourse] to clarify that they are the successful ones. It has also been said: It is permissible for it to be an explanation of what they possess in terms of otherworldly benefits, while designating what precedes it to worldly benefits, based on the context of the comparison. "Preparation" (al-i‘dad) is facilitation, meaning He has facilitated for them: "Gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein forever."

[The phrase] "abiding therein" is a prospective state (hal muqaddara) derived from the pronoun in "for them," and the governing agent is "prepared."

"That is the great success": "That" is a reference to what is understood from the discourse regarding the attainment of supreme honor. "The success" (al-fawz), meaning the triumph, which has no success beyond it.
