"And We raised high for you your mention"

And We have raised high your mention by way of Prophethood and otherwise. And what a raising it is! For instance, He has coupled his name—blessings and peace be upon him—with His own name—the Almighty and Majestic—in the two testimonies of faith (Shahadatayn), and He made obedience to him a part of obedience to Him, and He invoked blessings upon him among His angels, and He commanded the believers to invoke blessings upon him. He addressed him with titles, such as "O you who covers himself" (Ya ayyuhal-muddathir), "O you who wraps himself" (Ya ayyuhal-muzammil), "O Prophet," and "O Messenger." He also mentioned him in the scriptures of those who came before, and He took a covenant from the Prophets—peace be upon them—and their nations that they would believe in him—may Allah the Almighty bless him and grant him peace.

It is narrated from Mujahid, Qatadah, Muhammad bin Ka’b, al-Dahhak, al-Hasan, and others that they said regarding this: "I am not mentioned except that you are mentioned with Me." There is a marfu’ (elevated) hadith regarding this, which Abu Ya’la, Ibn Jarir, Ibn al-Mundhir, Ibn Abi Hatim, Ibn Abi Hibban, Ibn Marduyah, and Abu Nu’aym in al-Dala’il recorded from Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, from the Messenger of Allah—may Allah the Almighty bless him and grant him peace—who said: "Gabriel—peace be upon him—came to me and said: 'Indeed, your Lord says: Do you know how I have raised high your mention?' I said: 'Allah the Almighty knows best.' He said: 'Whenever I am mentioned, you are mentioned with Me.'"

This is an instance of limiting the mention to that which is of the greatest stature among the ways in which his mention was raised. Indicating the greatness of his status is the statement of Hassan:

*A noble one, upon whom is the seal of Prophethood* *From Allah, manifest, shining and testifying.* *And the Deity coupled the name of the Prophet with His own name,* *When the caller calls out in the five [daily prayers]: "I bear witness."*

The subtlety of mentioning the raising (raf’) after the burden (wad’) is not hidden, nor is the discourse regarding the conjunction (‘atf) and the additional emphasis in "for you" (laka), similar to what has preceded.
