Surah Al-Baqarah 2:271

ﱒ ﱓ ﱔ ﱕ ﱖ ﱗ ﱘ ﱙ ﱚ ﱛ ﱜ ﱝ ﱞ ﱟ ﱠ ﱡ ﱢ ﱣ ﱤ ﱥ ﱦ ﱧ ﱨ

If you disclose your charitable expenditures, they are good; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it is better for you, and He will remove from you some of your misdeeds [thereby]. And Allah, with what you do, is [fully] Acquainted.

(If ye publish your almsgiving…) [2:271]. Said al-Kalbi: “When the saying of Allah, exalted is He, (And whatsoever good thing ye spend…) [2:272], the Companions asked: ‘O Messenger of Allah! Is giving alms in secret better or giving it in the open?’ In response Allah revealed this verse”.
