Surah Al-Mu'minoon 23:117
ﲴ ﲵ ﲶ ﲷ ﲸ ﲹ ﲺ ﲻ ﲼ ﲽ ﲾ ﲿ ﳀ ﳁ ﳂ ﳃ ﳄ ﳅ ﳆ
And whoever invokes besides Allah another deity for which he has no proof - then his account is only with his Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will not succeed.

Allah is above this that He should create you without any purpose and that you may associate partners with Him with impunity.

It may also be translated as: "The one who invokes any other deity along with Allah, has nothing to support him in this act."

That is, he cannot escape accountability.

Again, the reference is to those who will attain we success and to those who will be deprived of it.
