It is He who made for you the night to rest therein and the day, giving sight. Indeed in that are signs for a people who listen.

Tafsir

He it is Who made for you the night that you may rest therein and the day giving sight.
Know that when the Almighty mentioned His saying: {Indeed, all honor belongs to Allah} (Yunus 10:66), He supported it with this verse.
The meaning is that the Almighty made the night so that weariness and fatigue might cease through repose therein, and He made the day mubṣiran (giving sight/illuminating) so that you might be guided by it in your needs through vision. Al-Mubṣir (the seeing one) is that by which one sees, and the day is that in which one sees. This usage is an attribution of the name from the cause to the effect.
Objection: The statement {He it is Who made for you the night that you may rest therein} suggests that the Almighty did not create it except for this purpose. Yet, the statement {Indeed in that are signs for a people who listen} suggests that the Almighty intended many kinds of signs through the creation of the night and the day.
Answer: The Almighty's statement {that you may rest} does not imply that there is no wisdom in it other than that; rather, it necessitates the realization of that wisdom.
As for His statement {Indeed in that are signs for a people who listen}, the intent is that they reflect upon what they hear and take admonition from it.
They say, "Allah has taken a son." Exalted is He! He is the Self-Sufficient. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. You have no authority for this. Do you say about Allah what you do not know?
