Tafsir
Verse range: 10:73
Know that when the Almighty recounted the words exchanged between Noah and those disbelievers, He then mentioned the outcome of that event.
Regarding Noah and his companions, there were two matters:
As for the disbelievers, the outcome was that the Almighty drowned and destroyed them.
When this story is heard by those who believe the Messenger and those who deny him, it serves as a deterrent for the accountable, lest they suffer what befell the people of Noah, and it serves as an incentive for the believers to remain steadfast in faith so they may attain what the people of Noah attained. This method of encouragement and warning, when presented through the narration of past events, is more persuasive than a direct, initial threat. This is the manner in which the Almighty mentioned the stories of the Prophets, peace be upon them.
The details of this story are mentioned in other Surahs.
