Al-'Adiyat (The Chargers): (3) Then those that cause a sudden rush at dawn

Meaning the horses that charge the enemy at the time of dawn. They used to charge in the morning because during the night, they would be in darkness and unable to see anything. As for the daytime, people are prepared for defense and fighting. However, at this time (dawn), people are in a state of heedlessness and unpreparedness.
As for those who interpreted these verses as referring to camels, they said: The intention is the camels driving their riders on the Day of Sacrifice (Yawm al-Nahr) from Muzdalifah to Mina. It is the Sunnah not to charge (move) until dawn breaks. The meaning of *ighārah* (charging/raiding) in the language is to hasten. It is said: *Aghāra* if he hastened. The Arabs in the pre-Islamic era used to say: "O Thabir, rise at dawn so that we may charge (hasten our departure)." Meaning, hasten in the descent (from Muzdalifah).
