Surah Al-Humazah (The Slanderer): Verse 6

{نَارُ اللَّهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ} (The Fire of Allah, kindled.)

Regarding His saying, the Exalted: {نَارُ اللَّهِ} (The Fire of Allah): The idāfa (genitive construction) here is for magnification, meaning it is a fire unlike all other fires.

{الْمُوقَدَةُ} (kindled): This means it will never be extinguished, or it is kindled by His command or His power.

This is supported by the saying of Ali (peace be upon him): "Wondrous is the one who disobeys Allah upon the face of the earth while the Fire is blazing beneath him."

And in the Hadith: "(It) was kindled for a thousand years until it became red, then a thousand years until it became white, then a thousand years until it became black; and it is now black and dark."

{الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ} (That which mounts up to the hearts.)
