Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth. Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.

يعني إن لم ms7132 يؤمنوا هم لا يورث كفرهم شكا في صحة دينكم ، ولا يؤثر شكهم في قوة يقينكم ، فإن خلق الله السموات والأرض بالحق للمؤمنين بيان ظاهر ، وبرهان باهر ، وإن لم يؤمن به على وجه الأرض كافر ، وفي الآية مسألة يتبين بها تفسير الآية ، وهي أن الله تعالى كيف خص الآية في خلق السموات والأرض بالمؤمنين مع أن في خلقهما آية لكل عاقل كما قال الله تعالى : { ولئن سألتهم من خلق * السماوات والارض ليقولن الله } ( لقمان : 25 ) وقال الله تعالى : { إن في خلق * السماوات والارض * واختلاف اليل والنهار * إلى أن * قال * لآيات لقوم يعقلون } ( البقرة : 164 ) فنقول خلق السموات والأرض آية لكل عاقل وخلقهما بالحق آية للمؤمنين فحسب ، وبيانه من حيث النقل والعقل ، أما النقل فقوله تعالى : { ما خلقناهما إلا بالحق ولاكن أكثرهم لا يعلمون } PageV25P062 ( الدخان : 39 ) أخرج أكثر الناس عن العلم يكون خلقهما بالحق مع أنه أثبت علم الكل بأنه خلقهما حيث قال : { ولئن سألتهم من خلق * السماوات * الارض * ليقولن الله } وأما العقل فهو أن العاقل أول ما ينظر إلى خلق السموات والأرض ويعلم أن لهما خالقا وهو الله ثم من يهديه الله لا يقطع النظر عنهما عند مجرد ذلك ، بل يقول إنه خلقهما متقنا محكما وهو المراد بقوله { بالحق } ، لأن ما لا يكون على وجه الإحكام يفسد ويبطل فيكون باطلا ، وإذا علم أنه خلقهما متقنا يقول إنه قادر كامل حيث خلق وعالم علمه شامل حيث أتقن / فيقول لا يعزب عن علمه أجزاء الموجودات في الأرض ولا في السموات ولا يعجز عن جمعها كما جمع أجزاء الكائنات والمبدعات ، فيجوز بعث من في القبور وبعثة الرسول ، ويعلم وحدانية الله لأنه لو كان أكثر من واحد لفسدتا ولبطلتا وهما بالحق موجودان فيحصل له الإيمان بتمامه ، من خلق ما خلقه على أحسن نظامه ، ثم إن الله تعالى لما سلى المؤمنين بهذه الآية سلى رسوله

Translation:

This means that even if they (the disbelievers) do not believe, their disbelief does not introduce doubt into the correctness of your religion, nor does their doubt affect the strength of your certainty.

For indeed, "The creation of the heavens and the earth with truth (al-haqq)" is a clear explanation and a dazzling proof specifically for the believers, even if no disbeliever on the face of the earth believes it.

In this verse, there is an issue that clarifies its interpretation: How has Allah (Exalted is He) specified the sign of the creation of the heavens and the earth for the believers when the creation itself is a sign for every rational person? As Allah Almighty says:

"And if you ask them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth?' they will surely say, 'Allah.'" (Luqman: 25)

And Allah Almighty also says:

"Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day... are signs for people of understanding." (Al-Baqarah: 164)

We say: The creation of the heavens and the earth is a sign for every rational person, but their creation with truth (bi-l-haqq) is a sign exclusively for the believers.

The explanation for this, based on transmission (Naql) and intellect ('Aql):

  1. Regarding Transmission (Naql): It is supported by His saying:

    "We did not create them except with truth, but most of them do not know." (Ad-Dukhan: 39) This verse excludes most people from the knowledge that their creation is with truth, even though He affirmed that everyone knows that He created them when He said: "And if you ask them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth?' they will surely say, 'Allah.'"

  1. Regarding Intellect ('Aql): When a rational person first looks at the creation of the heavens and the earth, he knows they have a Creator, which is Allah. However, the one guided by Allah does not stop at merely recognizing the Creator. Instead, he says that Allah created them perfectly and masterfully—and this is what is meant by "with truth (bi-l-haqq)". This is because anything not created with perfection would become corrupt and void, thus being false (batil).

Once he knows they were created perfectly, he concludes that the Creator is Perfectly Capable (since He created) and Omniscient (since His knowledge encompassed the perfection of the creation). Therefore, nothing—not even the smallest parts of existence in the earth or the heavens—is hidden from His knowledge, nor is He incapable of gathering them, just as He gathered the parts of all created beings.

This leads to the affirmation of the possibility of resurrection (the raising of those in graves) and the truthfulness of the Messenger. Furthermore, he learns the Oneness of Allah, because if there were more than one creator, the heavens and the earth would have become corrupt and void, yet they exist with truth. Thus, he attains complete faith from the One who created what He created in the most excellent order.

Finally, after comforting the believers with this verse, Allah then comforts His Messenger:


Verse 45:

"Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish the prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows what you are doing."
