Verse range: 33:8
ليسأل الصادقين عن... (That He may question the truthful about...)
This means that He sent the Messengers, and the consequence for the accountable (the mukallafūn) is either reckoning (ḥisāb) or punishment (ʿadhāb). This is because the truthful will be reckoned, while the disbeliever will be punished. This is similar to what Ali (peace be upon him) said: "The permissible things of this world are a reckoning, and its forbidden things are a punishment." This necessitates a general state of fear, which confirms the preceding statement: {...waiting}.
{O Prophet, fear Allah...}
Verse 7
{O you who have believed, remember the favor of Allah upon you when armies came to you, and We sent against them a wind and soldiers you did not see. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing.}
{When they came to you from above you and from below you, and when eyes shifted [in fear], and hearts reached the throats, and you assumed about Allah [various] assumptions.}
