Surah Saba' (34): Verse 38

Then He clarified the state of the wrongdoer by saying:

{And those who strive against Our signs to frustrate [them]—for them will be a painful punishment.}

We have already mentioned its exegesis.

And His saying: {for them will be a painful punishment} is also an indication of perpetuity (permanence), just as the Almighty said: {Whenever they wish to escape from it, they will be returned to it} (As-Sajdah: 20), and just as the Almighty said: {while they will not be absent from it} (Al-Infitar: 16).

Verse 39

{Say, "Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills of His servants and restricts [it for him]. And whatever you spend of anything - He will replace it, and He is the best of providers."}
