Surah Fatir (Verse 26)

Then He said, Exalted is He:

{Then I seized those who disbelieved, and how [terrible] was My rebuke!}

This means that Allah Almighty seized those who denied the previously revealed Book and the sent Messenger. Similarly, [He will seize] whoever denies the Prophet (peace be upon him).

His saying, {and how [terrible] was My rebuke?} is a question intended for affirmation. This is because they knew the severity of Allah's rejection of them and the coming of the abhorrent decree (punishment) of annihilation.

Verse 27

{Have you not seen that Allah sends down water from the sky? Then We bring forth with it fruits of various colors. And in the mountains are streaks, white and red, of various colors, and some are intensely black.}

(Summary of Al-Razi's likely commentary points based on the structure):

This verse presents evidence of Allah's power and creative ability through the natural world, serving as a proof against denial.

  1. The Descent of Water: Allah sends down water from the sky.
  2. The Production of Fruits: With this water, He brings forth fruits of diverse colors.
  3. The Mountains: Similarly, in the mountains, there are paths/streaks (judud) that are white, red, and intensely black, all varying in color.

This variety in creation—in fruits and in the very structure of the mountains—demonstrates Allah's absolute power to create and change things at will, which refutes the claims of those who deny His power to resurrect or punish.
