Surah Ya-Sin (36): Verse 16

Original Text Segment:

Translation:

This indicates that despite their immediate denial, they (the messengers) did not become weary or cease their efforts. Rather, they repeated their message to them, emphasized it with an oath, and said: "Our Lord knows that We are surely messengers to you."

They emphasized this with the Lām (the particle 'la' in la-mursalūn) because the statement "Allah knows" functions similarly to an oath. This is because whoever says "Allah knows" concerning something that is untrue would be attributing ignorance to Allah and would thus incur accountability for punishment, just as breaking an oath incurs expiation.

Furthermore, in the statement "{Our Lord knows}", there is an indication of a rebuttal to their objection that the messengers were merely human beings. This is because if Allah knows that they are indeed messengers, it is akin to His saying:

{Allah knows best where to place His message} (Al-An'am: 124).

This means that Allah is the Knower of all matters and is capable; therefore, He chose us by His knowledge for the mission of prophethood.

Then He said:
