ﱛ ﱜ ﱝ ﱞ ﱟ ﱠ
Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time.

Surah Ya-Sin (36): Verse 44
Except as a Mercy from Us...
Then He made an exception (Istithnā'):
This exception yields two implications:
- The division of salvation into two categories: Mercy and Enjoyment (Muta'a). That is, Allah saves some out of mercy because He knows they will believe, while others He allows to enjoy [life] for a time, increasing their sin, because He knows they will not believe.
- It clarifies that this salvation is not perpetual but temporary in this world. He saves them as a mercy and grants them enjoyment until a specified time, after which death must occur, as cessation is inevitable.
Then the Almighty said:
**And when it is said to them, "Fear what is before you and what is behind you that you may receive mercy,"**
