Surah Ya-Sin (36): Verse 64

Original Text Segment:

Translation:

In this statement, there are three aspects that necessitate the intensity of their regret and sorrow:

  1. His saying, the Exalted, {Enter it} (اَصْلَوْهَا): This is an order of severe punishment and humiliation, similar to His saying, {Taste! Indeed, you are the mighty, the noble!} (Ad-Dukhan: 49).
  2. His saying, {Today} (الْيَوْمَ): This means the punishment is present, while their pleasures have passed, and their days have ended; only the punishment remains today.
  3. His saying, {because of what you used to disbelieve} (بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ): Disbelief implies that there was a blessing they were rejecting. The shame of the ungrateful person before the Benefactor is one of the most severe pains. This is why the sinful servant often says, "Do to me what the Master commands, but do not make me stand before Him." The poet alluded to this meaning:
Is the shame of the wrongdoer before the benefactor not sufficient for one who possesses a blessing?

Original Text Segment:
