There are several interpretations regarding the meaning of "helping Allah" (نصر الله):

1. The First: That you help the religion of Allah and His path.
2. The Second: That you help the party (or faction) of Allah.
3. The Third: That the intended meaning is the actual helping of Allah.

We say: Helping (النصرة) is the realization of the objective sought by one of the two adversaries when striving to achieve its sign. Satan is the enemy of Allah; he strives to realize disbelief and the dominance of the people of faith. Allah seeks the suppression of disbelief, the destruction of its adherents, and the annihilation of those who ignorantly choose polytheism. Therefore, whoever realizes the help of Allah achieves what is sought (by Allah). One should not say he achieves Allah's will (مراده), because Allah's Will cannot be realized by anyone other than Him. Furthermore, what Allah seeks (مطلوبه) according to the People of the Sunnah is different from His Will (مراده); for He seeks faith from the disbeliever but does not will (or desire) it, otherwise, it would have occurred.

Then He said: {He will help you} (ينصركم). If it is asked: Why (is this the case)? We reply: When Allah Almighty helps the believers, He has realized what He sought. How can the servant realize what He sought, as they are one and the same thing? We say: The believer helps Allah by going out to fight and advancing, and Allah helps him by strengthening him, establishing his footing, and sending angels to guard him from behind and in front of him.

Then the Almighty said: {And those who disbelieve—ruin to them, and He will cause their deeds to go astray.} (47:8)
