Tafsir
Verse range: 48:23
A response to another question that takes the place of Jihad: that the ascendants (of the stars) have effects, and conjunctions have changes. He replied: It is not so. (Rather,) it is the way of Allah: the victory of His Messenger and the destruction of His enemy.
And His saying, the Exalted: {And you will never find for the way of Allah any alteration.}
This is glad tidings and a refutation of a weakness that might occur due to a misconception. The misconception is that if Allah says, "This is not due to (astrological) influences," then its occurrence is not obligatory (by necessity). Rather, Allah is an active agent who chooses what He wills. If He willed to destroy mankind, He would have destroyed them. This is unlike the astrologer's claim that victory belongs to whomever has an ascendant and configurations that necessitate his victory with certainty.
So Allah, the Exalted, said: {And you will never find for the way of Allah any alteration.} Meaning, Allah is an active agent who does what He wills and is capable of destroying His friends. However, He does not alter His way (Sunnah) nor change His established custom.
