Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:74

ﲗ ﲘ ﲙ ﲚ ﲛ ﲜ ﲝ ﲞ ﲟ

So will they not repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

Translation:

Will they not then repent to God...

Commentary on the Structure (Farrā'):

قال الفراء : هذا أمر في لفظ الاستفهام كقوله { فهل أنتم منتهون } ( المائدة : 91 ) في آية تحريم الخمر .

Translation:

Al-Farrā’ said: This is a command presented in the form of a question, similar to His saying: **{Will you not then desist?}** (Al-Mā’idah: 91) in the verse concerning the prohibition of wine.

Verse 74:

{ ما المسيح ابن مريم إلا رسول قد خلت من قبله الرسل وأمه صديقة كانا يأكلان الطعام انظر كيف نبين لهم الا يات ثم انظر أنى يؤفكون } .

Translation:

**{The Messiah, son of Mary, was not but a messenger. Messengers had passed on before him. And his mother was a truthful woman. They both used to eat food. Look how We make clear to them the signs, then look how they are deluded [away from the truth].}**
