Tafsir
Verse range: 51:40
فَأَخَذْنَاهُ وَجُنُودَهُ فَنَبَذْنَاهُمْ
(So We seized him and his soldiers and cast them away...)
This refers to some of what [Prophet Moses] brought. It is as if the verse means: He took allies, but they did not benefit him. Then Allah seized him and his pillars (supporters) and cast them all into the sea (al-Yam). The story is well-known.
Regarding the Almighty's saying: {وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ} (And he was blameworthy/reproached), we derive two points:
This is analogous to the saying of a speaker: "So-and-so's fault is that he is a thief, or a murderer, or that he associates with people and harms them. And so-and-so's fault is that he is preoccupied with himself and does not associate." The attribution of these two types of faults to each other becomes a cause for praising one and condemning the other.
Then the Almighty said:
(And in 'Ad [is a lesson], when We sent against them the barren wind.)
