Surah Al-Waqi'ah 56:31

ﲃ ﲄ

And water poured out

Tafsir

Verse range: 56:31

Open in Qurani

The Event (Al-Wāqiʿah): (31) And Water Poured Forth (Wa mā’un maskūb)

There are also several interpretations regarding this phrase:

  1. Poured from above: This is because the Arabs primarily had wells and cisterns. Water was not typically "poured" for them, unlike in regions with springs gushing forth from mountains that naturally flow onto the land.
  2. Flowing without a channel: The poured water flows through the air, not within a riverbed. This is similar to the water in Paradise.
  3. Abundant: Water is precious among the Arabs, so it is conserved and drunk, not poured out. When they mention blessings, they count the abundance of water and express this abundance by saying it is spilled or poured out.

The first interpretation is the soundest.

Then, the Almighty said:

**{And abundant fruit, neither cut off nor forbidden}** (Al-Wāqiʿah 56:32-33)
