Surah Al-Mujadilah 58:6

ﲼ ﲽ ﲾ ﲿ ﳀ ﳁ ﳂ ﳃ ﳄ ﳅ ﳆ ﳇ ﳈ ﳉ ﳊ ﳋ ﳌ

On the Day when Allah will resurrect them all and inform them of what they did. Allah had enumerated it, while they forgot it; and Allah is, over all things, Witness.

Surah Al-Mujadilah (The Pleading Woman): Verse 6

{يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ اللَّهُ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوا أَحْصَاهُ اللَّهُ وَنَسُوهُ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ}

Translation and Exegesis (Based on Mafatih al-Ghayb):

{يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ اللَّهُ} (The Day Allah will resurrect them):

  • The word Yawm (Day) is in the accusative case, likely due to the implied verb Udhkur (Mention) or Yunabbi'uhum (He will inform them) or Muhīn (humiliating them), emphasizing the grandeur of that Day.

{جَمِيعًا} (all of them):

  • There are two interpretations:
    1. Meaning all of them, leaving no one behind unresurrected.
    2. Meaning they will be gathered together at one time.

{فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوا} (Then He will inform them of what they did):

  • This is to glorify the event, to rebuke them, and to expose their state publicly. This exposure is what makes them wish for a swift passage to the Fire due to the shame they will face in the presence of all witnesses.

{أَحْصَاهُ اللَّهُ} (Allah has counted it):

  • Meaning Allah has encompassed all aspects of those deeds—their quantity, quality, time, and place—because He is the Knower of particulars.

{وَنَسُوهُ} (and they forgot it):

  • They forgot their deeds because they belittled them and treated them lightly.

{وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ} (And Allah is Witness over all things):

  • Meaning He is an observer, and absolutely nothing is hidden from Him.

Verse 7

{أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ مَا يَكُونُ مِن نَّجْوَىٰ ثَلَاثَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ رَابِعُهُمْ وَلَا خَمْسَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ سَادِسُهُمْ وَلَا أَدْنَىٰ مِن ذَٰلِكَ وَلَا أَكْثَرَ إِلَّا هُوَ مَعَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كَانُوا ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ}

Translation and Exegesis:

{أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ} (Have you not seen that Allah knows what is in the heavens and what is in the earth?):

  • (The verse continues to assert His comprehensive knowledge.)

{مَا يَكُونُ مِن نَّجْوَىٰ ثَلَاثَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ رَابِعُهُمْ وَلَا خَمْسَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ سَادِسُهُمْ وَلَا أَدْنَىٰ مِن ذَٰلِكَ وَلَا أَكْثَرَ إِلَّا هُوَ مَعَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كَانُوا} (There is no secret conversation of three but that He is the fourth of them, nor of five but that He is the sixth of them, nor of fewer than that nor more, but that He is with them wherever they may be):

  • This establishes that Allah's knowledge encompasses all private consultations (najwā). He is present with them not in physical form, but through His absolute knowledge, observation, and power, regardless of the number of people involved or their location.

{ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ} (Then He will inform them of what they did on the Day of Resurrection):

  • (This links back to the previous verse, confirming that all these secret actions will be revealed.)

{إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ} (Indeed, Allah is Knower of all things):

  • (A concluding affirmation of His perfect and encompassing knowledge.)
