Open in Qurani

Al-Hashr (The Banishment): (10) And those who came after them...

Know that His saying: {And those who came after them} is also a conjunction (connected) to the Muhajirun (Emigrants).

It is said that this refers to those who emigrated after them, or it refers to the Tabi'un (Successors) in the best sense—those who come after the Muhajirun and the Ansar (Helpers) until the Day of Resurrection.

The Almighty mentioned that they supplicate for themselves and for those who preceded them in faith, which is His saying: {saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and do not place in our hearts any resentment toward those who have believed."}

This means: no deceit, envy, or hatred.

Know that these verses encompass all believers, as they are either the Muhajirun, the Ansar, or those who came after them. It is established that the characteristic of those who come after the Muhajirun and the Ansar is to mention the predecessors—the Muhajirun and the Ansar—with supplication and mercy. Therefore, whoever is not like this, but rather mentions them with ill-will, is excluded from the categories of believers according to the explicit text of this verse.

Verse 7

{Have you not seen those who are hypocrites? They say to their brothers from among the People of the Scripture who disbelieved: "If you are expelled, we will surely leave with you, and we will never obey anyone against you. And if you are fought, we will surely aid you." But Allah bears witness that they are liars.}
