Surah Al-Mulk (The Sovereignty): Verse 26

Original Text Analysis:

The excerpt discusses the distinction between knowing that an event (the punishment/Hour) will occur and knowing when it will occur.

Translation:

(26) Say, "The knowledge [of when it will occur] is only with Allah."
And what is meant is that knowledge of the occurrence [of the punishment] is different from knowledge of the time of its occurrence. The first knowledge (that it *will* happen) is present with me (the Prophet), and it is sufficient for warning and admonition. As for the second knowledge (the specific time), it belongs only to Allah, and it is not necessary for me to be a clear warner.

Next Verse (Verse 27):

{But when they see it approaching, the faces of those who disbelieved will become distressed, and it will be said, "This is that for which you used to call [for its hastening]."}
