ﱎ ﱏ ﱐ ﱑ ﱒ ﱓ ﱔ ﱕ ﱖ ﱗ ﱘ
So leave Me, [O Muhammad], with [the matter of] whoever denies the Qur'an. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know.

Tafsir
Verse range: 68:44
It is known that when the Almighty threatened the disbelievers with the greatness of the Day of Resurrection, He intensified the warning.
He then warned them with what He possesses and with His power of subjugation, saying: "Leave Me with him (or them)" (i.e., entrust the entire matter to Me).
It is as if He is saying, "O Muhammad, it is sufficient for you regarding vengeance that you entrust his affair to Me and leave Me alone with him, for I know what must be done to him and I am capable of doing it."
Then He said: "We will gradually draw them near" (or lead them on a gradual path).
It is said, istadrajahu ila kadha (to lead him gradually to something) when one causes him to descend to it step by step until he is plunged into it.
Regarding the phrase "from where they do not know":
Abu Rawq said: "We will gradually draw them near" means: Every time they commit a sin, We renew a blessing for them and make them forget to seek forgiveness. Thus, the gradual leading on (Istidraj) occurs in the affluence they enjoy, which they do not realize is a gradual leading on. It is a favor bestowed upon them because they consider it a preference for them over the believers, whereas in reality, it is the cause of their destruction.
