Translation and Exegesis (Based on Fakhr al-Din al-Razi's approach):

Verse 44: {And if he had fabricated against Us some sayings...}

  • Variant Reading: It has been read as {wa law tuwuffila} (passive voice).
  • Linguistic Note on Taqawwul (Fabrication): The form tafa''ul (as in taqawwul) implies an effort or exertion on the part of the fabricator.
  • Derogatory Usage: Fabricated sayings are termed aqāwīl (plural of qawl) as a form of belittlement, similar to how a'ājīb (wonders) and aḍāhīk (laughable things) are used. It is as if aqāwīl is the plural of af'ūlah derived from qawl.
  • Meaning: The meaning is: "And if he had attributed to Us a saying that We did not say."

Following this, the Almighty stated:

Verse 45-46: {We would have seized him by the right hand, then We would have cut from him the aorta (the main artery).}

  • The Consequence: This is the severe punishment threatened for attributing falsehoods to God.
  • Seizing by the Right Hand (Al-Yamīn): This signifies a powerful, decisive, and inescapable seizure, often implying overwhelming strength and authority.
  • Cutting the Aorta (Al-Watīn): This refers to severing the main artery connected to the heart, which results in immediate death. This extreme penalty underscores the gravity of forging divine revelation.
