Al-A'raf (The Heights): Verse 23

**{They both said, "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves...}**

Know that this verse has already been explained in Surah Al-Baqarah. We mentioned there that this verse indicates a great sin was committed by Adam (peace be upon him). However, we maintain that this sin occurred before he received prophethood. If this is the case, the question [regarding the sin of a prophet] is resolved.

**{He said, "Descend, some of you being enemies to others. For you, there is a dwelling place on earth and enjoyment for a time."}** **{In it you will live, in it you will die, and from it you will be brought forth."}**
