Tafsir
Verse range: 7:24-25
Verse 24:
He said, "Descend, some of you being enemies to others. For you, there is an abode on earth and enjoyment for a time."
Tafsir:
It is established that what was previously mentioned concerns Adam, Eve, and Iblis. Therefore, the command "Descend" (اهبطوا) must apply to these three.
The phrase "some of you being enemies to others" (بعضكم لبعض عدو) means that enmity is firmly established between the Jinn (Satan/Iblis) and humankind, and this enmity will never cease.
The phrase "For you, there is an abode on earth" (ولكم فى الارض) refers back to the Earth mentioned earlier. The meaning is: In the Earth, you shall live (تحيون), in it you shall die, and from it you will be brought forth for the Resurrection and the Day of Judgment.
Recitation Note:
Verse 25:
O children of Adam! We have sent down to you clothing to cover your nakedness and as adornment. But the clothing of righteousness—that is best. That is from the signs of Allah, that they may remember.
Tafsir:
This verse addresses the children of Adam directly. Allah mentions two types of clothing:
This mention of clothing serves as "one of the signs of Allah" (ذالك من آيات الله), so that they may take heed (لعلهم يذكرون).
