Al-Jinn (72): (21) Say: "Indeed, I do not..."

It is either interpreted that Guidance (rushd) means benefit (naf'), making the intended meaning of the statement: "I do not possess for you misguidance (ghayy) nor guidance (rushd)." This is supported by the recitation of Abu [al-Samal] which reads: "misguidance nor guidance" (ghayy wa lā rushdan).

The meaning of the statement is that the one who brings benefit and harm, and the one who guides and misleads, is Allah (Allāh), and that none of creation has the power to do so.

{ Say: "Indeed, none can shelter me from Allah, nor will I find any refuge besides Him." } (72:22)
