No! There is no refuge.

Tafsir

Mafatih al-Ghayb

Verse range: 75:11

Open in Qurani

Al-Qiyamah (The Resurrection): (11) Nay! There shall be no refuge.

His saying, the Exalted: **{Nay!}** (Kallā) This is a rejection of the request for refuge.
**{There shall be no refuge}** (Lā wazr) Al-Mubarrid and Al-Zajjāj said: The origin of *wazr* is the impregnable mountain. Then, whatever you seek refuge in and fortify yourself with is called a *wazr*. Al-Mubarrid cited the verse of Ka'b ibn Malik:
*The people have turned against us concerning you; we have* *Nothing but swords and the tips of spears as a refuge.*
The meaning of the verse is that there is nothing by which one can seek protection from the decree of Allah.
Then, His saying, the Exalted: **{Unto your Lord, that Day, will be the place of return.}**
