Surah Al-Qiyamah 75:28
ﱥ ﱦ ﱧ
And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation

Tafsir
Verse range: 75:28
Commentators have said: The meaning is that he became certain of his parting from the world. Perhaps this certainty is called *dhann* (supposition/belief) here because as long as the soul remains attached to the body, a person hopes for life due to the intensity of their love for this fleeting life, as stated: {Nay, but you love the hasty life} (Al-Qiyamah: 20). His hope for it does not cease, so true certainty of death does not occur; rather, the dominant belief is mixed with the hope of life. Or perhaps it is called *dhann* as a form of mockery.
Know that this verse indicates that the soul is an independent, existing essence that remains after the body dies. This is because the Almighty named death a "parting" (firaq). Parting only occurs if the soul remains, as parting and union are attributes, and an attribute necessitates the existence of the one described.
Then the Almighty said:
