Surah Al-Insan 76:6

ﱁ ﱂ ﱃ ﱄ ﱅ ﱆ ﱇ

A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance].

Issue 1: Grammatical Analysis of 'Aynan

If we hold that al-Kāfūr (Camphor) is the name of the river, then 'Aynan (a spring) is in apposition (badal) to it.

Alternatively, you may take it as an accusative of praise (madh), with the meaning: "I mean a spring."

However, if we hold that al-Kāfūr is the name of the substance known as camphor, then 'Aynan is in apposition to the implied object of drinking, such as a cup (kās), assuming a deleted possessive structure. It is as if it were said: "They drink wine, the wine of a spring," and then the possessive noun (mudāf) was deleted, and the possessed noun (mudāf ilayhi) took its place.

Issue 2: Difference between 'Min Kās' and 'Biha'

In the previous verse, it is stated: {They drink from a cup} (Al-Insān: 5), whereas here it says: {they drink by means of it} (yashrabūna bihā).

The difference is that the cup (kās) is the starting point and the initial vessel for their drinking. As for the spring ('ayn), it is what they mix their drink with. Thus, the meaning is: The servants of God drink wine by means of it (the spring), just as you say: "I drank water with honey" (sharabtu al-mā'a bi-l-'asali).

Issue 3: The Scope of 'Ibād Allāh' (Servants of God)

The statement {They drink from it, the servants of God} is general, implying that all servants of God drink from it. However, by consensus, the disbelievers do not drink from it. This proves that the term 'Ibād Allāh' is specific to the people of faith.

If this is established, then the verse {And He is not pleased with disbelief for His servants} (Az-Zumar: 7) does not apply to the disbelievers, but is specific to the believers. The meaning of that verse then becomes: "And He is not pleased with disbelief for His believing servants." Consequently, that verse does not indicate that God Almighty does not will the disbelief of the disbeliever.

Explanation of {They will make it flow forth abundantly}

The meaning of {They will make it flow forth abundantly} (yufajjirūnahā tafjīrā) is that they will make it flow wherever they wish in their dwellings, easily, without any hindrance.

Know that when the Almighty described the reward of the righteous in the Hereafter, He then explained the deeds by which they earned that reward.
