Surah An-Nazi'at 79:12



ﲺ ﲻ ﲼ ﲽ ﲾ

They say, "That, then, would be a losing return."

Surah An-Nazi'at: (12) They said, "Then that would be a losing return..."

The Third Type of Utterance Recounted by Allah from the Deniers of Resurrection

They said, "Then that would be a losing return (***khratun khāsirah***)."

This means a return attributed to loss, similar to saying "a profitable trade" or "a trade whose owners are losers." The meaning is: If this [resurrection] were true, then we, in that case, would be losers because of our denial. This statement from them was mockery.

Verse 7: {Then it will only be a single Shout, and behold, they will be on the surface [of the earth]!}

Then He said: {Then it will only be a single Shout (*zajratun wāḥidah*), and behold, they will be on the surface [of the earth] (*bi-l-sāhirah*)}.

Know that when Allah recounted these words from them, He responded by saying: {Then it will only be a single Shout, and behold, they will be on the surface [of the earth]}.
