Surah At-Takwir (The Overthrowing): Verse 21
**(21) [He is] obeyed, then trustworthy.**
Commentary (Tafsir)
The Fifth Point: His statement, the Almighty's: {Obeyed (Mutāʿun)}.
Know that the word {Then (Thumma)} here refers to the previously mentioned location, meaning {with the Owner of the Throne} (referring to verse 20).
The meaning is that [Gabriel] is obeyed in the presence of Allah among the nearest angels; they issue forth from his command and return to his judgment.
(Note on Recitation): It has also been recited as {Thumma} (with a dammah on the thā’), as an exaltation of the trust (Amanah) and an explanation that it is the best of his enumerated attributes.
The Sixth Point: His statement: {Trustworthy (Amīn)}.
This means that he is trustworthy concerning the revelation of Allah and His messages. Allah has protected him from treachery and error.

**(22) And your companion [Muhammad] is not a madman.** **(23) And he has certainly seen him [Gabriel] in the clear horizon.** **(24) And he is not a miser concerning the Unseen (Al-Ghayb).**
