Al-Infitar: (9) Nay, but you deny...

It is known that when the Almighty established, through rational proofs, the truth of the Resurrection and Reinstatement in general, He then followed this up by explaining the details of the states related to that event. These details fall into several categories:

The First Category: Admonition and Denial

This category involves His admonition against that delusion, stated in His words: {Kallā} (Nay/No) and {Bal} (But).

  • The Meaning of {Kallā} and {Bal}: The word Kallā is a particle used in Arabic to negate something previously mentioned or established, while affirming something else. Therefore, scholars have offered several interpretations for the meaning of {Kallā}:
  1. The View of Al-Qadi: It means you (people) do not remain steadfast in acknowledging the blessings bestowed upon you and your Lord's favor; rather, you deny the Day of Recompense.
    1. Second View: Kallā means: Refrain from being deluded by God's generosity. Then, it is as if He says: You do not refrain from that delusion, but rather you deny the Religion (Day of Judgment) fundamentally.
    2. The View of Al-Qaffal: Kallā means: The matter is not as you claim—that there is no Resurrection or Reinstatement—because that would imply that God Almighty created creation in vain and to no purpose, which is far from Him. Then, it is as if He says: You do not benefit from this explanation, but rather you deny.
  • The Meaning of {Takdhibūn bi-d-Dīn} (You deny the Religion/Judgment): There are two interpretations for this phrase:
  1. That ad-Dīn (the Religion) refers to Islam, meaning you deny the recompense for adherence to the Religion and Islam.
    1. That ad-Dīn refers to the Reckoning, meaning you deny the Day of Reckoning.

The Second Category: The Appointed Guardians

This category is His saying, the Almighty: {Wa inna ‘alaykum la-ḥāfiẓīn * Kirāman kātibīn * Ya‘lamūna mā taf‘alūn} (And indeed, over you are guardians, Honorable scribes, Who know whatever you do).
