He will cry out for destruction
Tafsir
Verse range: 84:11
{فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا} (Then he will call out for destruction.)
Know that Thubūr (ثبور) means utter ruin or destruction.
The meaning here is that when the person receives their record book in their left hand, they realize they are destined for the Fire, and they will cry out: "Woe to my destruction!" (or "O, Thabūr!").
Al-Farrā’ stated that Arabs say, "So-and-so calls out lahfahu (his distress)," meaning he cries out, "Woe is me!"
Another interpretation mentioned by Al-Qaffāl is that Thabūr is derived from Muthābarah (المثابرة), which means persistence or constancy. Thus, the torment of the Hereafter is called Thabūr because it is a persistent affliction from which there is no escape, just as Allah says: {إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا} (Indeed, its punishment is a lasting debt/calamity) (Al-Furqan: 65). The root of Gharām (غرام) is permanence and clinging.
{وَيَصْلَى سَعِيرًا} (And he will enter the blazing Fire.)
