Tafsir of Al-A'la 87:19

Al-A'la (The Most High): (19) The Scriptures of Abraham and Moses

There are two opinions regarding this verse:

1. First Opinion: It is an explanation of the preceding verse: {In the former Scriptures} (Al-A'la: 18).
2. Second Opinion: It means that this [revelation] is mentioned in the scriptures of all the Prophets, among which are the Scriptures of Abraham and Moses.

It is narrated from Abu Dharr that he asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "How many books did Allah reveal?" He replied: "One hundred and four books. Ten scrolls were revealed to Adam, fifty scrolls to Seth, thirty scrolls to Idris, ten scrolls to Abraham, and [the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, and the Criterion (the Qur'an)]."

It is also said that the Scriptures of Abraham contained: "It is incumbent upon the intelligent person to guard his tongue, be knowledgeable of his time, and attend to his own affairs."
