The sixth attribute: His saying, the Exalted: {And cushions arrayed} ( wa namāriqu maṣfūfah).
An-Namāriq (الـنـمـارق) are cushions, according to everyone. Its singular form is namiraqah (نـمـرقـة) with a ḍammah on the nūn. Al-Farrā’ added, based on hearing from the Arabs, namiraqah (نـمـرقـة) with a kasrah on the nūn.
Al-Kalbī said: They are cushions arranged side by side, so wherever one wishes to sit, he sits on one and leans against another.
