Tafsir
Verse range: 88:21
{فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ}
Know that when the Almighty established the proofs for the validity of Monotheism (Tawhid) and the Resurrection (Ma'ad), He said to His Messenger (peace be upon him):
{So remind; indeed, you are only a reminder.}
The Messenger's reminding (Tadhkir) is only achieved by mentioning these proofs and their like, urging reflection upon them, and warning against neglecting them. This is a command from the Almighty to the Messenger to persist in reminding and to be patient with whatever opposition he encounters. It clarifies that he was sent only for this purpose and nothing else. Therefore, He said: {Indeed, you are only a reminder.}
{لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ}
{You are not over them a controller (or master).}
