ﱏ ﱐ ﱑ ﱒ
And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].
Tafsir
Verse range: 92:13
Verse Context: (Referring to the preceding context, likely concerning God's dominion)
And indeed, for Us is the Hereafter [as well]. (Qur'an 87:13 - Implied context)
There are two interpretations regarding this statement:
The First View: That We possess everything in both this world and the Hereafter. Therefore, your refusal to be guided by Our guidance does not harm Us, nor does your guidance increase Our dominion. Rather, the benefit and harm of this matter return to you. If We had willed, We could have forcibly prevented you from sinning, as We own both worlds. However, We do not prevent you in this manner because it would nullify the religious obligation (Taklīf). Instead, We prevent you through clear exposition, definition, promise, and threat.
The Second View: That We possess the sovereignty of both realms, and We grant [dominion/blessings] to whomever We will. Thus, the happiness of both realms must be sought from Us.
The First View is more consistent with the position of the Mu'tazila, whereas the Second View is more consistent with our position (Ahl al-Sunnah).
Regarding the Almighty's saying:
"So I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely, None shall enter it except the most wretched one, Who denied and turned away." (Qur'an 92:14-16)
