Original Text Segment:
فيحتمل أن يكون المراد علمه بالقلم وعلمه أيضا غير ذلك ولم يذكر واو النسق ، وقد يجري مثل هذا في الكلام تقول : أكرمتك أحسنت إليك ملكتك الأموال وليتك الولايات ، ويحتمل أن يكون المراد من اللفظين واحدا ويكون المعنى : علم الإنسان بالقلم مالم يعلمه ، فيكون قوله : { علم الإنسان لم يعلمه } بيانا لقوله : { علم بالقلم } .
Translation:
It is possible that what is intended is His teaching man by the pen, and also teaching him other things, but the conjunction particle (wāw) was omitted. Such omission can occur in speech, as when you say: "I honored you, I treated you well, I gave you wealth, I granted you authority" (without connecting each clause with and).
Alternatively, it is possible that both phrases refer to the same meaning, and the sense would be: He taught man by the pen that which he did not know. In this case, the phrase {He taught man that which he did not know} serves as an explanation (bayān) for the phrase {He taught by the pen}.
